Diploma Programme
Audition requirements
An applicant must perform the following:
- one polyphonic piece (Prelude and Fugue by Bach or Shostakovitch)
- one classical sonata (1st, or 2nd and 3rd movements) or a set of variations
- one technically-demanding etude
- one large-scale work containing technically-demanding elements (not concerto)

Examination requirements
Examinations for candidates wishing to enter Piano Solo programme:
1. Performing a solo programme (30-40 minutes)
- Polyphonic work by J.S. Bach with fuga
- Classical work (Vienna classics)
- Full-scale work of free form
2. Chamber Ensemble programme (20 min.) or Accompaniment programme (20 min.)
3. Interview with faculty from the department on the topic of their critical essay
4. Russian language test
Examinations for candidates wishing to enter Chamber Ensemble programme:
1. Performing a Chamber Ensemble programme (30-40 min.)
- Classical sonata
- Romantic work. Sonata
- Work by a composer of the 20 century
2. Piano Solo programme (20 min.)
3. Interview with faculty from the department on the topic of their critical essay
4. Russian language test
Examinations for candidates wishing to enter Accompanist programme:
1. Performing an Accompaniment programme (30-40 min.)
- Two big works
- Instrumental work
- Small work
2. Piano Solo programme (20 min.)
3. Interview with faculty from the department on the topic of their critical essay
4. Russian language test
