Preparatory Programme

PREPARATORY DEPARTMENT PROGRAMMES

A 10 months' course is designed for prospective students who wish to be prepared for the entrance examinations and for the first year studies at the conservatory and who do not have a working knowledge of Russian, but wish to enter the Conservatory Diploma Course Programme.

Students receive instruction in the Principal Study and the Russian language, as well as in Aural training and Harmony. For students who apply for studies at the Department of Choreogpahy: Choreographic tuition, Classical training, and the Russian language.
The curriculum is arranged to suit each student's individual needs prior to full undergraduate course entry.

Knowledge of the Russian language is not required. Russian language course is an integral part of the Preparatory programme.
Admission to the Preparatory department programmes in the Conservatory is based on the results of entrance examination in specialty.

APPLICATIONS

April 30, 2010 – Receipt of all applications and supporting materials for Early Admission (01 – June 25, 2010)
01 – June 25, 2010 – Entrance examinations at St. Petersburg Conservatory
July 16, 2010 – Receipt of all applications and supporting materials for Fall Admission (September 01-14, 2010).
September 01-14, 2010 – Entrance examinations at St. Petersburg Conservatory.

ACADEMIC CALENDAR 2009/2010

The academic year lasts ten months (from September to the 30th of June) and consists of two semesters starting in September.

01 September 2009 – Academic year starts
01 September 2009 – First day of classes (Fall semester)
15 September 2009 - Academic year for the first year students starts
20 September 2009 – All payments for the Fall semester must be received by the Conservatory
28 December 2009 – 03 January 2010– Testing session
04 January 2010 – Last day of group classes
05 January – 25 January 2010 – Exanimations (Winter session)
25 January 2010 – Last day of individual classes

26 January – 09 February 2010 – Winter holiday break

10 February 2010 – First day of classes (Spring semester)
28 February 2010 – All payments for the Spring semester must be received by the Conservatory
01 June – 05 June 2010 – Testing session
04 June 2010 – Last day of group classes
06 June – 03 July 2010 – Examinations (Spring session)
26 June 2010 – Last day of individual classes
30 June 2010 – End of the Academic year
