GRADUATE COURSE PROGRAMMES

The Conservatory offers a wide range of courses in Performance Studies, Composition, Conducting, Art of Choreographer, Musicology, as well as courses preparing students for entry into music teaching. All of them are full-time and are of 5 years' duration.

The curriculum covers Principal Study, Music Theory, History of Russian and Western Music, Pedagogical Methods, Aesthetics, Psychology, and Subsidiary Studies: Russian, Applied Piano, etc. The Diploma of a Specialist is awarded upon satisfactory completion of the Study Plan.

EXAMINATION IN SPECIALTY

Audition programmes may be altered according to the student’s ability.

RUSSIAN LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of Russian at the Pre-Intermediate level (TORFL level 1) is required for students enrolling in Graduate course.

APPLICATIONS

April 30, 2010 – Receipt of all applications and supporting materials for Early Admission ( June 1-25, 2010)
– Entrance examinations at St. Petersburg Conservatory
July 15, 2010 – Receipt of all applications and supporting materials for Fall Admission (September 1-14, 2010).
September 1-14, 2010 – Entrance examinations at St. Petersburg Conservatory.

ACADEMIC CALENDAR 2009/2010

The academic year lasts ten months (from September to the 30th of June) and consists of two semesters starting in September and beginning of February. The academic year consists of 40 weeks of full-time principal study. Vacation periods are scheduled in winter (late January to beginning of February) and in summer (beginning of July to late August).

01 September 2009 – Academic year starts
01 September 2009 – First day of classes (Fall semester)
20 September 2009 – All payments for the Fall semester must be received by the Conservatory
28 December 2009 – 03 January 2010– Testing session
04 January 2010 – Last day of group classes
05 January – 25 January 2010 – Exanimations (Winter session)
25 January 2010 – Last day of individual classes

26 January – 09 February 2010 – Winter holiday break

10 February 2010 – First day of classes (Spring semester)
28 February 2010 – All payments for the Spring semester must be received by the Conservatorу
01 June – 05 June 2010 – Testing session
04 June 2010 – Last day of group classes
06 June – 03 July 2010 – Examinations (Spring session)
26 June 2010 – Last day of individual classes
30 June 2010 – End of the Academic year
